I've got to be honest, I don't see any significant difference between the finish on kits I primed with Tamiya primer and those I primed with my Wal-Mart stuff. I've never had any issue with Tamiya primer and other brand paint, be it Vallejo, Model Master, Alclad, or other. WINTER CAMUFLAGE
